The oldest parts of the present structure are Saxon. The Belfry houses a ring of eight bells, the oldest dated 1682.
A mausoleum created by John Higgins of Turvey stands in the north-east corner of the churchyard. The inside is decorated with the 25th and 26th verses of the 19th chapter of the Biblical book of Job. A quotation from Psalm 89 in the King James Bible “What man is he that liveth and shall not see death?” runs around the top of the mausoleum.
